Sun Moon Lake

Day Trip!

My friends and I decided to take our last day trip while we are all still together and we decided to go to Sun Moon Lake which is a little more than an hour from where I live. What did we plan for this day?

To bike around the lake.

So I will start from the beginning of our day.....STARTING NOW.
Right when we walked off of the bus we went and rented our bikes for the day. Super sexy.

And from the Bike Rental shop we started our bike ride around the lake. The big black circle is where we started and then we followed the brown path around the lake.

This was our first stop.

Beautiful, AMIRIGHT? And this is on the 5th of January. Twas warmer than Utah.

Next stop was at this temple.

Next was Peacock Gardens and Butterfly Park. Holla!

There were no butterflies so we went to the bathroom and ate food.

And we started out journey again. Climbing up the mountains on our bikes again. Downhill was fun, uphill not so much.

 

My hair is cray from the wind.

Wrong way. We kind of went down this mountain even though we weren't supposed to.

 

 

 

What whatttttt?! The lake disappeared. Wellllllllll, we may have missed one our turns and went in the wrong direction.......down the entire mountain. You see, the road kept winding in and out through the mountains so when the lake was no longer in sight we thought nothing of it. It turns out we were wrong >< You see how the brown trail goes around the lake.... well we ended up somewhere down there.....Ya, we also confirmed that it was wrong since around the entire lake is only 18 miles and we had biked about 25 at that point.

 

The circle is where we missed our turn and we were following the road (which makes sense) instead of taking a hard right.

Soooo, we called the bike company and said "hey girl, we are in the complete wrong city now."

Their response? "Oh, just go back up the giant mountain you just went down." 

Me--"K, cool that would take literally hours and we are supposed to get you the bikes back in an hour and a half soooo don't think that is going to happen, is there any other way."

Them--"Public bus"

So luckily we stopped right at a bus stop and waited 20 minutes until the next public bus came. And with our luck it was of the smaller public buses. I begged the guy to let us on the bus with 4 bikes and at first he was like "no girl, impossible" but then this nice couple visiting from Hong Kong, whom were sitting on the bus, were like "hey dawg, it is alright, we can squeeze in". 

The deal: If any other passengers wanted on the bus our bikes and our bodies were to be gone. Sooooo thank Jesus there were only 2 more people that got on that bus. And we made it back in a really short time. In fact, we made it back at 5:02.. only two minutes late. Upside: this is a good story to tell. Downside: we maybe missed some sites on the other side of the lake. >< But that is all good. It was an awesome day and a great last trip to have with some of my friends that are leaving Taiwan very very very very very soon :(

 

After we got back we got on our bus back to the city and ate some din din together.

 

 

 

Twas a good day and i enjoyed every minute of it.
