PingXi Sky Lantern Festival

You know how in the last post I said that I was going to go to the PingXi Sky Lantern Festival?

Well, I totally did.

AND IT WAS AMAZING.

Lemme give you the skinny.

Me and my classmates woke up on Sunday morning and headed up to Taipei. Once we got to the Main Station we had to take the subway to the last stop a.k.a the Taipei Zoo. After this they had public buses going to this festival. Long story short we got to PingXi, which is in the middle of the mountains, at around noon.

Well, when we got there we just walked around and shopped for a while. Ate some stuff. You know, what people do at festivalz. It was really cool and a beautiful place in the middle of the mountains. During this time we set off a sky lantern (which was happening everywhere). We wrote down our hopes and wishes and then sent that thang up up and away. We walked around some more and then finally decided to sit down and have some tea since it was still daylight and our time for setting off a sky lantern in a big group wasn't until 7ish.

7ish arrived.

Well, finally the time had come. It was time to set off a Lantern with a big group of people. We waited at the main entrance for our group number to be called, whilst keeping our eyes to the sky so a sky lantern didn't fall on one of our heads and burn our face off, when all of the sudden there was a giant group of guys in suits walking through the entrance. Low and behold it was the Prez of Taiwan. So that was pretty kewl to say the least. And he got to set off the giant lantern, which you will see down below.

Well the time had come and we were finally on the court to set off our lanterns (which were free by the way, holla). We once again wrote down our hopes and dreams for this year and then set off the lantern.

Guys.

Guys.

Listen.

It may have been the most beautiful-ist thing that I have ever seen. Like literally. It was so freaking cool that I thought I was going to have a heart attack. So, my dreams are now flying flying flying and hopefully they shall come true. Jk, the lanterns totally just fall in the mountains after a while. But srsly, I am just imagining that it is floating somewhere.

Well, after that amazing experience we waited in the big line to go on a bus back to Taipei where we could catch a bus back to Taichung. We waited in the line where you had to stand on the bus because we were not going to wait an hour and a half to have a seat on the bus. I mean plz, I can stand on a bus for an hour.

We made it back.

Awesome.

Here are some picz and vidz.

Jenn's Visit + Valentines.....IN TAIWAN.

Hello.

I am just going to write another short post.

So if you are committed follower of my blog posts (I'm talkin' to you family) then you would remember my friend Jenn that I met two years ago in Taiwan while studying here for the summer. You may also remember that I totally spent New Years in California with her last year. Well, we have reunited again.

She had been traveling for about a month with her parents around Asia and her parents were nice enough to change the flight dates so that she could come to Taichung to see me and other friends. And meet up we did.  I met up with her on Monday night at 11 at night right when she got to Taichung and we walked around the Feng Chia Night Market (Me, her, and Ben). We also saw our friend Sunny while she was working in the night market.

The next day (after hanging out until 3 in the morning) we woke up early and walked around our campus. After this we all (Me, Jenn, Jenn's Mom, and Sunny) went to Rainbow Village, which if you are really a committed follower you will also recognize. After this we went to a 3D picture expo in Taichung which was crazy jam packed with people since it is New Year's break. Next, we ate at Modern Toilet at Yi Zhong Jie ...which was also crazy jam packed. O_O

The next day Jenn and I met up for breakfast where she informed me that she had lost her camera's memory card after I had gotten pictures from her. Well, that day she was travelling with a Taiwanese family in another city and I may had not seen her again. That is, of course, unless we were 99% sure where she had dropped the memory card and I went and got it for her. Well, crisis averted and memory card was given back.

She is now in 'Murrica but it was amazing seeing her! Even if it is only once a year.

Well, the next day was Valentines Day...and what did I do?!?! Studied for most of the day. BUT after that me and Sheng-Ai went on a single person date with each other (which we were then accompanied by Ben later on). It was fun but we both ate too much and I have found out that eating American food makes your body feel like death. After that we shopped fo stuff.

Oh, I also played the lottery but didn't win.  :(

Finally, I want to tell you where I will be going tomorrow.

I am excited.

To go.

Here.

Pingxi Lantern Festival

This was on CNN's list of  '52 things to do in 2013' ... so ya, I am pretty pumped.

So wait for that post soon.

TTYL. Here are some pictures and no more grammar errors.
